Graduation: celebrating our HCI students

Graduation has always been a landmark event for students and staff at UCL. It's a great moment to celebrate our achievements with those that are closest to us; it's great a moment to catch-up with old friends; it's a great moment to dress-up in academic robes and wear one of those silly hats.

On Thursday 10 March and Friday 11 March 2022, UCL hosted in-person graduation ceremonies for those that missed out on this opportunity over the past two years because of COVID-19 restrictions. It was great to see so many of our HCI students from the 2018-19 and 2019-20 cohorts walk across the stage at these graduation events at ExCeL London. After the formal events of the day, many of us gathered for the social events organised by the Faculty of Brain Sciences in UCL's Main Quad before heading to an after-party at the Resting Hare.

It was a truly magical day of celebrating academic achievements - even the early March London weather was gloriously warm and sunny for the special occasion. At the same time, reconnecting with the class of 2019-20 served as a poignant moment to reflect on the events of two years ago when we first entered lockdown and suspended in-person teaching. Despite the challenges, we have overcome and we gathered once more in person to celebrate our achievements.
