Brief Biography

My work is concerned with understanding how people interact with computing devices. I received my doctorate in Psychology from Cardiff University in 2005, after which I was a post-doc in Computer Science at Drexel University, before joining UCL in 2007.

I direct the MSc programme in Human-Computer Interaction at UCL.

Research

I work within interdisciplinary teams, using methods and approaches from psychology, computer science, and design. I have published 60+ papers on how people interact with computers (see UCL Publications or Google Scholar). Support has come from grants provided by the EPSRC and EIT Digital.

External activities

I am Deputy Editor for the International Journal of Human-Computer Studies.

I will be Workshops Chair at CHI 2017. I have previously been an Associate Chair on the Program Committee for major conferences: CHI (2012-2016), CogSci (2009-2012), MobileHCI (2012-2013), and AutoUI (2012-2014).

I am member of the EPSRC Peer Review College and an External Examiner for the Department of Informatics at the University of Sussex
