Giulia Barbareschi

Brief biography
With a background in physiotheraphy and medical device science and a PhD in Disability and Assistive technology, throughout my career I have worked in hospitals, universities and UN agencies in several countries around the world. My research lies at the intersection of technology, disability and design with strong influences from disability studies and international development. As part of my work I design and implement studies with other universities, private institutions and NGOs to evaluate the impact of using different types of technologies, from mobile phones to prosthetics sockets, for people with disabilities who live in low-and-middle income countries. I am also a BSA Media Fellow and a STEM ambassador and I have an interest in science communication and education.
