Susan Lechelt

I am now a Postdoc in Design Informatics at the University of Edinburgh.
During my PhD at UCLIC I was involved in the CodeMe project. My research investigated new methods for teaching children about computing, electronics and the Internet of Things, supervised by Yvonne Rogers, Nicolai Marquardt and Phil Stenton from BBC Research & Development.
My ongoing research interests include design and evaluation of tangible educational toolkits and holistic learning environments, and more broadly, the design of playful interfaces for curiosity and reflection.
Brief biography
Before joining UCL, I obtained an MA in Cognitive Science from the University of Edinburgh, where I focused on exploring visual perception through computational models of the visual cortex. I've also spent time at the University of York, where I worked on creating accessible user interfaces for statistical analysis, and at BBC R&D, where I researched audience experience for AI-assisted TV production.
Currently (October 2021) Postdoctoral Research Associate in Design Informatics, University of Edinburgh.
