Applying the WOM to WOMBAT: evaluation of a tool to support learning about design evaluation

Abstract
This paper considers the issues involved in explicitly teaching students (particularly those in schools of engineering) about design evaluation. The requirements of a computer-based tool to support students learning about this subject are outlined, and a prototype system described. The results of a formative evaluation of this system are discussed, and the strengths and weaknesses of this approach compared to other possible approaches to the teaching of this subject.
